Those of you who follow the blog will be familiar with this talented Yorkshire-based rock band. I interviewed TEN-79 back in January. Here’s a link to that interview: http://ukmusicdirectory.com/maria-savva-interviews-ten-79/

The band are planning to release their debut album on 27th June 2014, and there’ll be a gig to launch the album at The Duchess, York that evening!

I asked the guys to tell me a bit about the new album.

Gary Luckhurst (vocals/guitar) says, “It has been one massive dream for all of us, that at some point in our lives we would be able to release an album. We have all been in other bands, and now finally it has all come together.

“We have been lucky to be able to bond a great friendship between us, where the music is paramount and all our different styles of musical tastes have fused to create a unique blend. We wouldn’t like to pigeon hole ourselves but I guess we’re an Indie Rock band.

“We are hoping the album sells really well locally as we are building a good fan base here. We would love for the fans around this area to be fundamental in spreading the word about us, and getting our music out there to the wider public.”

Jim Cadwallender (Bass), adds: “We are doing some local Yorkshire festivals over the summer and plan to gig further afield in the latter parts of this year and into 2015 to promote the album.

“The artwork was done by local artist and friend of the band Susan Slann. http://www.susanslann.com/

Much-touted East Yorkshire band TEN-79 release their debut album ‘Love, Life & Lies’ on Friday 27th June. The album will be available via digital download from iTunes, Amazon MP3 and Play.com. Recorded during 2013 at Fairview Recording Studio in Willerby near Hull, ‘Love, Life & Lies’ captures TEN-79’s wide-ranging influences and live sound.

The band has been attracting attention for their distinct musical calibre – former Shed Seven front man Rick Witter featured their ‘Wayside’ demo on his ‘Disco Down’ Minster FM show. ‘The Gathering’ has also picked up airtime on BBC Radio York’s ‘BBC Introducing…’ show. ‘Wayside’, ‘The Gathering’ and ‘Happens Every Day’ have frequently been played on the international internet station ‘Rocker’s Dive Radio’. Other airplay has been gained in both the United States and Australia.

Named after the road that brings the band together, TEN-79 are Gary Luckhurst (vocals and rhythm guitar) and Brian Hartington (lead guitar) from York, Jim Cadwallender (bass) from Pocklington and Wally Youngman (drums) from Beverley. Brian has replaced Paul Coleman on guitar since the recording of the album as Paul has now emigrated to France.

The band formed in 2012 with the concept that there should be no egos just a massive drive to write and play original music, and enjoy every moment of the process. The love of music was the seed with a diverse musical heritage spanning influences from Led Zeppelin and the Levellers to the Stone Roses and REM. With nearly 10,000 followers on Twitter their songs are rapidly building an international appreciation.

The album launch will be marked by a gig at The Duchess, York, on Saturday 27th June, supporting Norwich’s The Burning Crows on their UK tour.
